Dog Crates & Cages
Dog crates and cages – a more expensive accessory for your small dog.
The crate can be very useful for transporting your puppy or small dog in the car when you’re travelling solo as there’s no one beside you to hold your puppy.
It is best not to let your it sit beside you in their bed on the passenger seat or on the rear seats as they will want to crawl around the car to explore. They may even want to sit on your lap while you’re driving. This should be avoided as it will distract your attention from the road and will cause an accident for you, other car uses and your puppy.
Fold flat Dog Cages are a real space saver!
Make sure it has enough room within the crate. It will willingly go into its crate if you leave the door of the crate propped open at home. This will allow it to wander in and out freely, (especially if you plant a small occasional treat inside!). The puppy may even want to have a nap in there instead of its bed if you leave the crate in a corner of a room where the family are.
Never send your puppy or dog into the crate as punishment, it needs to know the crate is a safe happy place for your puppy to want to go in there, and to sit in the closed crate when your travelling … perhaps to one of the many dog friendly holidays available in the UK and also now in Europe!
