Choosing the right dog bed is essential for the comfort and safety for your puppy. The first night your puppy is away from its dog pack and natural surroundings, it can become insecure resulting in a restless night’s sleep for you and and your puppy!

Large Breeds of Puppy
Depending on the breed of your dog it is wise to choose the size carefully. If your puppy belongs to a large breed then a sturdy cardboard box would suffice if lined with papers or plastic sheeting, then covered with plenty of blankets for your puppy to snuggle into. Provide a soft toy for them and maybe one of your old jumpers so they can start to get used to your smell as you will be their new dog pack. A ticking clock nearby can help replicating its mother’s heartbeat. As your puppy grows older and bigger, the cardboard box can be replaced with a larger basket.

Small Breeds of Puppy
If your puppy belongs to a small breed then buying a new soft dog bed would be adequate as your puppy would not outgrow its new bed as it gets older.

Plenty of Choice
There are plenty of choices of dog beds from soft furry type to firm plastic. Fixed mattresses to removable ones. Open top beds or covered up furry houses, the list is endless. If you invest in a decent bed it should last your puppy for many years ahead.
